A US soldier who participated in the operation to capture Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has been arrested for profiting from betting on classified information.
A few days before Maduro's capture was announced, he bet more than $33,000 on the Polymarket platform on events such as the introduction of US troops into Venezuela and the overthrow of Maduro from power, and earned more than $400,000. After the operation, he tried to transfer the funds to cryptocurrency and delete his account. He is now charged with fraud and illegal use of classified information.
Recall that on January 3 of this year, US special forces conducted an operation in Caracas, captured Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores and took them to the United States.
