World belt wrestling competitions among boys under 20 will start in the administrative center of the Sughd region in October

Preparations are underway for the World Belt Wrestling Championships in Khujand.

On the eve of the important event, the Chairman of the Sughd region, Rajabboy Akhmadzoda, received the Secretary General of the International Belt Wrestling Federation, Khabir Khabibullin.

During the conversation, the parties discussed the organization of the competition.

Ahmadzoda emphasized that with the support of the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, all conditions for the training of young athletes have been created in the country.

He added that national belt wrestling is very popular in the region; more than 800 people practice this sport, and over 20 masters of sports train their students.

This sport has a special status among residents of the cities and regions of Istaravshan, Isfara, Khujand, Devashtich, Mastchokh, Kukhistoni Mastchokh, Bobojon-Gafurovsky, Asht, Jabbor-Rasulovsky, Zafarabad, Shakhriston.

Tajik sambo wrestler became world champion

Over the 8 months of 2023, athletes from the region brought 22 medals from world competitions.

Let us remind you that the World Belt Wrestling Championship will be held on October 12-15 at the Khujand Sports Palace. Boys aged 18-20 from 20 countries will compete here.
