​​​Scientists from the University of Colorado have found that Mars once had a temperate climate. They used computer modeling to show that the planet had rain and snow, streams and rivers. This precipitation formed the current channels and valleys on the surface of Mars billions of years ago. Most scientists agree that there was some amount of water on the surface of Mars about 4.1-3.7 billion years ago. But its source is not clear. At that time, the Sun was only 75 percent brighter than it is now, and according to one theory, the ice caps that covered the mountainous regions around the Martian equator periodically melted. The results are consistent with data from NASA devices. However, how Mars was warm enough at that time remains a mystery.
