Sindorov becomes the first chess player to achieve 6 victories in the Candidates Tournament
Uzbek grandmaster Javohir Sindorov has set a new record at the 2026 Candidates Tournament. He became the first player to win six games in the tournament's current format.
Sindorov leads the standings with six wins and eight points without a loss after 10 rounds. He is two points ahead of his closest rival, Anish Giri. In the final round, he defeated India's Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa.
The tournament will run until April 15, and the winner will earn a match against reigning world champion Gukesh Dommaraju.
