The construction of a temporary shelter for victims of natural disasters was completed, as planned, by the first ten days of September
Temporary shelters have been erected in Khorog for victims of natural disasters.
The construction of houses for temporary residence of the victims has been completed, the press service of the administration of the Gorno-Badakhshan region reported.
The buildings are designed to accommodate 80 people, and all the necessary conditions for their stay have been created there.
The shelter was opened with the participation of regional authorities and the head of the Committee for Emergency Situations of Tajikistan, General Rustam Nazarzoda.
It is noted that the building consists of separate bedrooms for men and women, a medical office, a kitchen, a bathroom and meets modern requirements. There is steam heating, as well as other auxiliary rooms.
It is worth noting that until now, in emergency situations, residents were accommodated in hotels and other facilities.
According to official information, 20 natural disasters were registered in the region in just 6 months of 2023.
CoES of Tajikistan provided assistance to 500 flood-affected families
As a result, 18 people died in the region, the damage amounted to 19 million somoni.
In total, over the past 25 years, 314 natural emergencies occurred in GBAO, in which 63 people died. Material losses for the entire period are estimated at 300 million somoni.
