President Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in the Khorezm region today, August 17, and began his visit by inspecting the reconstruction work at Urgench International Airport. An investment of $264 million has been allocated for the airport modernization project. Upon completion of the reconstruction, the airport's passenger handling capacity will increase from 300 to 1,300 passengers per hour.
The President also inspected the new complex of the "Tillo Domor" dairy enterprise in the Urgench district and the operations of the Khorezm Advanced Vocational Skills Technical School, and traveled from Urgench to Khiva via a new railway line. Using a Chinese-made CR200J electric train, the travel time between the two cities will be reduced from 80 minutes to 40 minutes.
Additionally, the President familiarized himself with the operations of the Uzbekistan branch of Liaoning Normal University and the Confucius Institute, both established in the city of Khiva.
As part of the visit, an open dialogue with entrepreneurs is scheduled to take place on August 18.
