President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited Samarkand region on March 18. During the two-day trip, it is planned to get acquainted with creative work, industrial, agricultural and tourism projects in the region, as well as launch new initiatives. The visit began with the Youth Creative Park in Samarkand. The complex, built on the site of a former military hospital, has created opportunities for a modern library, training centers, IT and startup projects. The head of state also got acquainted with the city's public transport system. 100 electric buses have been delivered to Samarkand, and it is planned to purchase 150 more. These Yutong electric buses have 30 seats and a capacity of 75 passengers. A bus depot for new buses has been established on an area of about 4 hectares, and the charging station here can service 50 electric buses at the same time. Currently, 265 people work at the car park. It is planned to create more than 500 jobs after the remaining public transport is brought in. During the visit, the president also inspected the overpass built at the intersection of Gagarin and Rudakiy streets. For information, $12 million was spent on the construction of the 600-meter-long tunnel. The tunnel can accommodate an average of 50,000 vehicles per day. The president traveled to the Narpay district on the high-speed "Jaloliddin Manguberdi" train and got acquainted with the activities of a strawberry greenhouse operating on the basis of hydroponics. During the trip, issues of socio-economic development of the region were discussed and relevant instructions were given to those responsible.
