Shavkat Mirziyoyev suggested developing plans for the development of the Amudarya and Syrdarya basins

On September 15, Shavkat Mirziyoyev proposed to develop long-term plans for the development of the Amudarya and Syrdarya basins at the next meeting of the Council of Leaders of the founding countries of the International Island Rescue Fund.

According to the press service of the President, Shavkat Mirziyoyev International Fund for Saving the Island is, first of all, a unique experience of the countries of Central Asia in multilateral cooperation to solve one of the most acute problems on a global scale, the fund is water and noted that it has become the most important platform for regional cooperation in the field of ecology.

"It would be appropriate if we tasked the working bodies of the fund with the participation of international consultants to develop long-term plans for the development of the Amudarya and Syrdarya basins," the president said.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev said that it is important to envisage the modeling of various scenarios regarding the development of the situation in these river basins.

"I believe that the adoption of such strategic documents will make it possible to coordinate the policy of integrated management of water and energy resources in our region," the head of state said.

The President also mentioned that each of the Central Asian countries should commit to attract foreign aid to regional projects, setting clear target indicators.
