Shavkat Mirziyoyev put forward five strategic initiatives at the first "Central Asia – Republic of Korea" summit

The President participated in the first "Central Asia – Republic of Korea" summit held in Seoul on September 16. The summit addressed issues regarding the expansion of ties between Central Asian states and South Korea in areas such as security, trade and economic cooperation, investment, humanitarian exchange, and other sectors.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev proposed five strategic directions for developing cooperation:
— Long-term strategic planning. Developing a concept titled "Central Asia – Republic of Korea: Cooperation for Accelerated Development" and strengthening cooperation to counter cyber threats;
— Trade, economic, and investment cooperation. A proposal was made to establish a platform for meetings between ministers of industry and trade and to increase the volume of trade between Central Asian countries and Korea to $20 billion by 2030. Preparations are also underway to establish a "Central Asia – Korea" industrial-technological park in Uzbekistan;
— Cooperation on critical minerals. Forming a Regional Investment Alliance covering processes ranging from geological exploration and extraction to the deep processing of raw materials; — “Green” development and climate issues. Establishing a dedicated format for cooperation on climate and carbon matters between Central Asia and Korea;
— Youth and human capital development. Establishing long-term cooperation based on the “demand – training – employment” principle, as well as expanding youth participation in the development and implementation of artificial intelligence technologies;

At the conclusion of the summit, the Seoul Declaration and a number of documents regarding priority areas of cooperation were adopted.
