On September 30, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with FIFA President Gianni Infantino in Tashkent.
During the meeting, preparations for the 2027 U-20 World Cup, to be hosted by Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, were discussed.
Attention was also paid to expanding cooperation on popularizing football—particularly among the youth—supporting young talent, and training coaches, referees, and other football specialists to international standards.
The parties also discussed accelerating the process of hosting FIFA tournaments and events in Uzbekistan and opening a FIFA regional office for Central Asia in Tashkent.
