Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Vladimir Putin launch construction of nuclear power plant in Uzbekistan
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev paid a working visit to St. Petersburg on June 4. During the visit, he met with Vladimir Putin and discussed current issues of Uzbek-Russian cooperation.
The two heads of state also officially launched construction of the first power unit of an integrated nuclear power plant (NPP) in Uzbekistan.
It is noted that the project will serve the development of the nuclear energy sector in Uzbekistan, strengthen the country's energy security, and contribute to technological progress. The base cost of this nuclear power plant (NPP) being built in the Jizzakh region is $9.5 billion.
