A day ago, the 3rd, 4th and 5th floors collapsed as a result of a gas explosion on Oktyabrskaya Street in Balashikha near Moscow. As a result of the explosion, at least ten houses were destroyed. A few hours later, the second collapse occurred, three rescuers were trapped under the rubble, TASS reports. In addition, several people were trapped under the destroyed entrance.

10 ambulance brigades and 6 brigades of the Regional Center for Combating Natural Disasters worked at the explosion site in Balashikha. The Ministry of Emergency Situations noted that more than 160 people were involved in search and rescue operations. 170 people were evacuated from the damaged house. Residents were accommodated in the Balashikha recreation center, provided with food and water, as well as psychological support.

The Investigative Committee of Russia initiated a criminal case on the provision of services that do not meet security requirements. According to TASS, the house was built in 1979, it was not considered dangerous, and the next overhaul is scheduled for 2025. Based on one of the representatives of the population, the agency reported that the gas service inspected the equipment a month ago.
