The BRICS summit is being held in Johannesburg on August 22-24.
BRICS unites Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, but recently 23 more countries have expressed their desire to join the economic bloc.
Today in Johannesburg they announced the expansion of the BRICS through the entry of five new states that will become full members of the organization from June next year.
Now (after expansion), the BRICS GDP will be 37% of the share of world GDP, and the total population - 46%, said Brazilian President Lula da Silva.
Kazakhstan has consistently and actively advocated the development of regional and international integration associations throughout the history of independence, and Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev made a significant personal contribution to this, working as head of the foreign policy department, representative of the republic in the UN and other international organizations, as well as heads of state.
