Serdar Berdimuhamedov congratulated Turkmenistan on the International Day of Older Persons

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov congratulated his compatriots on the International Day of Older Persons, thanking the elders and dear mothers of the country. This was reported by the Turkmen state news agency.
“Today our young people, relying in any responsible matter on the support of their elders, consulting with them, respecting their life and work experience, with their successes in socio-economic, cultural, sports, socio-political life, as well as in humanitarian creative sphere make a significant contribution to increasing the authority of our country,” the head of state said in his address.
The President also emphasized the importance of the Council of Elders created this year and the study of proposals from its representatives during the next meeting of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan, held on the eve of Independence Day. On their basis, the most important decisions on the further development of the state were developed and adopted.
Serdar Berdimuhamedov wished the elders and all compatriots good health, a happy, long and prosperous life.
The International Day of Older Persons was proclaimed in 1991 during the 45th session of the UN General Assembly and is celebrated on October 1. Each year a date theme is determined. In 2023, it is dedicated to awareness of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the formation of commitments among all stakeholders to protect the human rights of current and future generations of older people.
