Serdar Berdimuhamedov approved the procedure for registration and issuance of a passport for a citizen of Turkmenistan

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a resolution approving the procedure for registration, issuance and procedure for using a passport of a citizen of Turkmenistan, as well as its sample and description, the Turkmen state news agency reports.
“According to the document, a previously issued old-style passport of a citizen of Turkmenistan, if in accordance with the legislation of Turkmenistan there is no basis for its replacement, cannot be replaced with a new sample of a passport of a citizen of Turkmenistan,” the message says.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Justice were ordered to prepare appropriate amendments to the legislation of Turkmenistan within a month.
The changes will affect acts that are involved in the text of this resolution, adopted on the basis of the country’s laws “On Migration”, “On Internal Affairs Bodies of Turkmenistan” and the decree of the head of state “On improving the passport system in Turkmenistan” dated September 2020.
