Serbian President Announces Resignation for Late September

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has announced that he will resign from his post on September 25 or 26. Vučić stated that he would step down upon his return from New York and subsequently participate in the campaign for snap parliamentary elections as a private citizen.
He emphasized that he did not wish to campaign for the premiership while holding the office of president, noting that this was a personal decision rather than a legal requirement.
Snap parliamentary elections in Serbia are scheduled for October 25. Vučić dissolved parliament on September 9. His candidacy for prime minister has been put forward by the ruling Serbian Progressive Party.
It is worth noting that Vučić cannot run in the next presidential election, as he is currently serving his second term.
