Selena Gomez Confirms Taylor Swift Wrote a Song About Her

Selena Gomez has confirmed that American singer and actress Taylor Swift wrote a song about her. The track “Dorothea” was indeed dedicated to Gomez, according to The Independent.

The artists have known each other for eighteen years and are close friends. Gomez has repeatedly called Swift her best friend. When the song “Dorothea” appeared on Swift’s 2020 album Evermore, fans immediately suspected it was about Selena.

In the song, Swift sings about “a girl who left her small town to pursue Hollywood dreams.” Now, the song’s heroine “sells cosmetics.”

Gomez had previously not commented on rumors that “Dorothea” was about her. However, she recently confirmed it in a video project by her husband, Benny Blanco. According to Selena, Taylor actually wrote two songs about her. The second one, however, was never released. The stars worked on it together, and it was titled “Family.”

“‘Dorothea’ is about me. I think many of the moments that shaped us — from relationships and family to love and hate, and everything in between — we went through all of that together. I was 15 and she was 18 at the time,” Gomez said.

She added that she was amazed by how beautifully Swift captured everything that was happening in their lives. Selena considers both songs very touching, as Taylor told the story of their friendship and their dreams that came true.
