A group of scientists from Russia and Central Asia traveling to Transnistria for a conference on the Russian language was not allowed into Moldova

Tajik scientists have been held at Chisinau airport for two days.

This was reported to RIA Novosti by a member of a group traveling to Moldova for a conference on the Russian language.

It is noted that along with the Tajiks, there are also scientists from Russia and Central Asian countries at the Moldovan air harbor.

“Moldova has officially denied us entry and is not allowing us to leave the airport in Chisinau,” said one of the scientists.

According to a group member, there are 20 of them in total: historians, philologists, teachers and journalists from the Russian Federation, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

He also emphasized that everyone has the necessary documents to enter Moldova.

The scientist noted that at the conference he and his colleagues planned to present a report on the role of the Russian language in the formation of interethnic harmony.

“Now we have been kept for the second day in a nook on the second floor of the airport, under the supervision of police officers with machine guns. They took away our passports and luggage,” said a member of the group.

Chisinau deported the head of Sputnik Moldova Vitaly Denisov

It is noted that employees of the Moldovan airport provided scientists with documents stating that the reason for the detentions was “failure to fulfill other conditions established by the Moldovan authorities for the entry of foreigners into the republic.”

Chisinau refused to comment on the situation.
