Saudi Arabia's armed forces were put on high alert after clashes with Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen, who also tried to launch a rocket over the kingdom towards Israel. This is reported by Bloomberg with reference to its own sources.

According to the agency's interlocutors, four Saudi soldiers were killed in a battle with the Houthis in the mountainous province of Jazan on the border with Yemen. After the Saudi army intercepted a rocket fired towards Israel over its territory, protocols related to an increased state of readiness were activated in all types of the kingdom's armed forces.

This is the first incident involving the death of the Saudi military since April 2022, when the country's authorities concluded an agreement on a temporary truce with the Houthis.

Earlier, the head of the Yemeni Houthis, Abdel-Malek al-Houthi, said that the group would launch drones and missiles if the United States directly intervened in the war between Israel and Hamas. Pentagon spokesman Patrick Ryder said that on October 19, the destroyer USS Carney shot down three cruise missiles and several drones launched by the Yemeni Houthis in the northern part of the Red Sea.
