Samarkand was confirmed as the cultural capital of the Islamic world in 2025. This was reported by the Ministry of Culture of Uzbekistan.
It was noted that on September 25, the 12th Conference of the Ministers of Culture of the Islamic World on the theme "Toward the Renewal of Cultural Activities in the Islamic World" began its work in Qatar. Ozodbek Nazarbekov is also participating in it.

The agenda of the conference discussed a number of issues related to the leading principles of world cultural policy and indicators of sustainable development, appreciation of the living wealth and traditional knowledge of mankind in the Islamic world, and the fight against the illegal circulation of cultural wealth.

"Most importantly, within the framework of the conference, Samarkand was confirmed as the cultural capital of the Islamic world in 2025. This status gives us the opportunity to once again show our cultural heritage to the world," writes the Minister of Culture of Uzbekistan Ozodbek Nazarbekov.
