Samarkand–Urgut Railway Dam Collapses

Videos circulating on social media show the collapse of a dam along the Samarkand–Urgut railway line. Uzbekistan Railways JSC issued an official statement, assuring that the situation is fully under control. It was reported that on July 3, heavy rainfall in the region caused the river dam in Toyloq district to collapse. The company noted that such a hydrological event has not been observed in this area for the past 20 years.

Currently, to ensure traffic safety, riverbanks are being reinforced with boulders. The restoration work involves 15 units of special equipment, with 30 dumpcars of stones delivered to the site, and an additional 130 dumpcars loaded with construction materials directed to the repair efforts.
