Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, the 53-year-old son of former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, has been killed, Reuters reported, citing his family and sources.
An official investigation has found he died of gunshot wounds. Details of the incident are still unclear. According to one version, Saif al-Islam died during fighting near the Hamada oil field. Other reports say he was shot dead in the garden of his home near the town of Az-Zawiya by unknown gunmen. Local media have sometimes linked the incident to the 444th Brigade of Libya's Government of National Accord, but the brigade has officially denied these allegations.

Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, the second son of Muammar Gaddafi, was considered one of the most influential figures in the country, despite not holding any official position. He was imprisoned after 2011, was wanted by the International Criminal Court, and later attempted to return to politics. An investigation into the murder is currently underway.
