Saida Mirziyoyeva Discusses Uzbekistan’s WTO Accession Process with the Organization’s Director-General

Saida Mirziyoyeva, Head of the Presidential Administration, met with Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO). During the meeting, the parties discussed Uzbekistan’s WTO accession process, the progress of negotiations, and the final tasks ahead.
Saida Mirziyoyeva emphasized the significant strides Uzbekistan has made toward WTO membership and highlighted the importance of bringing the ongoing process to completion without slowing down the pace of work.
She also expressed gratitude to the WTO Director-General for the organization's continued support and expert assistance provided to Uzbekistan.

For reference, Uzbekistan submitted its application for WTO membership in 1994. Since 2020, the country has actively accelerated negotiations regarding the terms of membership. In November 2025, the WTO noted the steady progress Uzbekistan is making toward concluding its accession negotiations.
