Saida Mirziyoyeva Discusses Launching YouTube Monetization in Uzbekistan with Google Vice President

Saida Mirziyoyeva, Head of the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan, met with Google Vice President Karan Bhatia in the United States. The meeting focused on the issue of launching YouTube monetization in Uzbekistan.
Mirziyoyeva noted that legislation regarding personal data and digital payments has been improved in recent years, expanding opportunities for the use of international payment systems.
According to an analysis by the Center for Economic Research and Reforms, the introduction of YouTube monetization could increase the size of the local advertising market and boost Uzbekistan's GDP by 0.05–0.1 percent.
Opportunities for cooperation with Google in various other areas were also discussed. The parties acknowledged that there are important tasks ahead to be accomplished.
Currently, YouTube monetization is available in over 100 countries; in Central Asia, however, the service operates only in Kazakhstan.
