Sadyr Zhaparov congratulated residents and guests of the capital on the occasion of the 145th anniversary of Bishkek. The address of the head of state was published by his press service.
"Today is an important day — the Day of the city of Bishkek, the capital of our sovereign Kyrgyzstan. I heartily congratulate everyone on Bishkek City Day, the 145th anniversary of the capital! We are all well aware that our capital used to be called Pishpek, and then Frunze. And only after our country was proclaimed a sovereign, democratic country, it officially received its historical name — Bishkek.
In Soviet times, the capital had the status of a green city. And for all Kyrgyzstanis, of course, it is a great honor to see Bishkek among the wonderful cities of the world called "marble city".
It is impossible not to mention the great work of the statesman and politician, the national hero of Kyrgyzstan Turdakun Usubaliev in achieving such well-deserved respect from the international community. For the first time in its 145-year history, the district, in which there were only 752 houses, not counting more than a hundred yurts, turned into a blessed city, in which more than a million people live today," the appeal says.
Sadyr Zhaparov notes that Bishkek has become a favorite city of Kyrgyzstan, which encourages our citizens to come here again and again, as well as an attractive place for guests to relax.
"If we listen to the wise saying: "The motherland is not a trophy from our ancestors, but a sacred duty that we will pass on to our children," then we are obliged to pass on the heritage from our ancestors — the place of birth, especially its capital Bishkek, to the future generation, preserving it as a green city, a "marble city" and multiplying its beauty! That is why we must pay special attention to improving the architectural appearance and infrastructure of our city. Today, along with boulevards, parks, botanical gardens, cultural and shopping centers are being opened, monuments are being erected, historical sites are being developed. For example, on the site of the remains of the ancient city of Jul, dating back to the V-VI centuries of our era, archaeological research is being conducted, restoration work is being carried out," he said.
The Head of State stressed that in order to improve the environmental situation, a number of parks have been put into operation, the construction of entertainment centers and bike paths continues. Work on the development of the capital, according to him, will continue.
