Mikhail Matveyev said that the dollar exchange rate is artificially rising because immigrants are buying Russian currency.
"Migrants and their diasporas in Russia buy tens of billions of dollars' worth of foreign currency from our banks every year, artificially stimulating demand for the currency and raising its exchange rate," the MP said.
He also said that "many friendly CIS countries have imposed sanctions against Russian banks and refused to work with MIR cards, which makes it difficult for these countries to transfer rubles from Russia."
Putin said that the depreciation of the ruble is due to rising inflation. "The situation with the ruble exchange rate is under control and there is no reason to panic," Putin said.
