Russian Defense Ministry allegedly ordered the downing of an AZAL plane

 

According to the Azerbaijani publication Minval.az, the Russian Defense Ministry gave the order to destroy an Embraer E190 aircraft of the AZAL airline on December 25, 2024. In a letter sent to the publication by an anonymous source, air defense captain Dmitry Paladichuk stated that he carried out this act precisely on the basis of the ministry's order.

The letter was accompanied by an audio recording of the process of firing at the plane, a video clip, and other materials confirming the malfunction of the equipment. The audio recording includes commands such as "Fire!" and "One more time!" heard in a military voice.

Independent investigations and expert examinations into the incident are ongoing.
