Russia plans to ban migrants from living near schools and kindergartens

Migrants in Russia may be banned from living near schools and kindergartens. The State Duma is developing a bill that would prohibit migrant workers from living closer than 200 meters from the territory of educational institutions. Current legislation does not impose any restrictions on the choice of places of residence for migrant workers. According to Slutsky, many foreigners often live near educational institutions, which poses a “potential danger” to minors in the event of misconduct. The document also states that there are cases of migrant workers living directly on the territory of educational institutions as part of renovation work on buildings and rooms.
