Russia stopped a foreign ship en route to the Port of Izmail in Odessa oblast by opening fire in the Black Sea. This was reported by the Russian Ministry of Defense.

On the morning of August 13, the patrol vessel “Vasily Bykov” of the Black Sea Fleet noticed the dry cargo ship “Sukra Okan”, which was going to Izmail port under the flag of Palau.

The freighter's captain did not respond to a request to stop the ship for inspection, resulting in the Russian ship opening warning fire.

After that, the ship stopped, and a group of Russian servicemen landed on it from a Ka-29 helicopter. They conducted an inspection, after which the ship headed for the Port of Izmail.

Russia withdrew from the grain agreement, which allowed the export of Ukrainian food from the Black Sea ports

In July, Russia refused to extend the grain contract. Since July 20, Russia has stated that it considers all ships going to Ukrainian ports on the Black Sea as potential military cargo carriers, they become legal targets of Russian troops, and countries with flags raised will be seen on the Ukrainian side in conflict.

This week, Ukraine opened temporary corridors in the Black Sea for merchant ships sailing to the ports of Chernomorsk, Odessa and Yuzhny. At the same time, Kiev warned that they could not guarantee their safety.
