A 19-year-old man in the Russian city of Rostov-on-Don has been charged with administrative offenses for a comment he made on social media.
He was found guilty by a court of making an offensive comment about the Taliban under the caption "What are the cavemen doing in Russia?" in a VKontakte post. The court found his comments aimed at inciting interethnic hatred and enmity. The man was also found guilty of two other comments about migrants. He pleaded guilty, expressed remorse, and was fined 10,000 rubles.
Russia removed the Taliban from its list of terrorist organizations in April 2025.
