Bulgarian President Rumen Radev has touched upon the purchase of Azerbaijani gas, noting that the country forms the energy strategy of the region and is the center of energy policy in the Balkans and Eastern Europe, Report informs referring to local media.

“Currently, Bulgaria receives gas from Azerbaijan. We have free access to six terminals in the Mediterranean Sea and the gas transmission systems of both Greece and Türkiye. Bulgaria makes the best use of its geographical position and membership in the European Union, taking care of its own interests, but also contributing to the interests of our partners and allies,” he said.

The Bulgarian president mentioned transparent gas tenders, the use of liquefied gas terminals in Greece and Türkiye, the Ring of Solidarity initiative to transport Azerbaijani gas to the EU.

“We completed the interconnector with Greece, started construction of a line with Serbia, which we will complete in October this year. Currently, we have the lowest fuel prices in Europe. We continue to cooperate with Greece, in February we signed an agreement on the construction of the Alexandroupolis-Burgas oil pipeline,” Radev specified.

He especially emphasized the actions of the interim government, which, despite the crisis, managed to create conditions for counteracting inflation, increasing industrial production and exports.
