Russian rapper Navai (Navai Bakirov) was detained on October 13 at a checkpoint near the Korday border crossing while entering Kazakhstan. According to the police, his vehicle was searched upon entry into the country, and narcotics were discovered inside.
Media reports indicate that the rapper was accompanied by colleagues in the vehicle. Some outlets have reported that approximately 10 grams of marijuana were found in the car; however, the police have not officially disclosed specific details regarding the type or quantity of the substance.
A criminal case has been initiated in connection with the incident, based on suspicions of attempting to transport narcotics across the border. Navai has been placed in a temporary detention facility, and an investigation is currently underway.
The rapper’s concert, scheduled for October 14 in Astana—the capital of Kazakhstan—has also been canceled. Organizers attributed the cancellation to "technical reasons," and ticket holders have been informed that they are eligible for refunds.
Navai is best known as a member of the duo "HammAli & Navai." Following the duo's breakup in 2025, he continued his career as a solo artist.
Just days before his detention in Kazakhstan, Navai had performed a concert in Tashkent.
