Ranking of the safest and most dangerous countries for women released
In the 2025–2026 index compiled by the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security and the Oslo Peace Research Institute, 181 countries were evaluated based on living conditions for women. The ranking was established using 13 indicators, including education and employment, legal protection, political participation, financial opportunities, and safety from violence.
The best countries for women:
🇩🇰Denmark — 0.939 points
🇮🇸Iceland — 0.932
🇳🇴Norway — 0.924
🇸🇪Sweden — 0.924
🇫🇮Finland — 0.921
Afghanistan, Yemen, the Central African Republic, Syria, and Sudan occupied the lowest positions in the ranking. Afghanistan was placed 181st with a score of 0.279.
In Central Asia:
🇰🇿Kazakhstan — 72nd place
🇹🇲Turkmenistan — 74th place
🇰🇬Kyrgyzstan — 84th place
🇹🇯Tajikistan — 89th place
🇺🇿Uzbekistan — 98th place
Uzbekistan scored 0.674 points. The country's female employment rate stands at 44.7 percent, and women make up 34 percent of the parliament. Uzbekistan was also evaluated on indicators regarding safety and legal protection for women. According to the report, nearly 676 million women worldwide were affected by armed conflicts in 2024. This is a 74 percent increase compared to 2010.
