Ramzan Kadyrov has been re-elected as the head of Chechnya.
Ramzan Kadyrov, the head of Chechnya, won the election held on September 20 with 99.85 percent of the vote. The Chechen election commission announced the results.
Kadyrov’s two rivals—Ismail Denilkhanov of the "A Just Russia" party and Kholid Nakayev of the KPRF—each received 0.05 percent of the vote.
Thus, Kadyrov was re-elected for a fifth term as the head of Chechnya. He has been leading the republic since 2007.
The election took place concurrently with the State Duma elections and other regional elections in Russia.
