This was announced by the President of the Republic Emomali Rahmon within the framework of the Fifth Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia.
In addition, he noted that along with drugs, there were more attempts by terrorists to enter the territory of Tajikistan.
“The competent authorities [in 2022] seized about 5 tons of narcotic drugs on the border with this country [Afghanistan], which is 22% more than in 2021,” the head of state cited the data.
According to his information, an attempt to infiltrate the Tajik-Afghan border by militants from the Jamaat Ansarullah group*, who were planning to carry out a series of terrorist attacks in the capital and other regions of the republic, was recently stopped.
In addition, Rahmon noted the worsening humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan and confirmed that Tajikistan continues to provide its border infrastructure and logistics capabilities to deliver targeted assistance to Afghans.

“Our goal is to provide favorable socio-economic conditions to stabilize the humanitarian situation in this country,” he said.
