The President of the Republic supported the proposal of his Chinese colleague on the creation of an economic corridor China - Tajikistan - Northern Afghanistan

Tajik leader Emomali Rahmon held talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping in the Chinese city of Xi'an.

This was reported by the press service of the President of the Republic.

At the meeting, it was noted that the relations of the countries, which have deep historical roots, have made a leap from good neighborliness and friendship to strategic partnership.

The parties also discussed issues of strengthening cooperation in the sectors:

"green" and digital economy;

infrastructure;

electric power industry;

construction and reconstruction of power plants in Tajikistan.

In addition, Rahmon supported the proposal to create an economic corridor China-Tajikistan-Northern Afghanistan.

However, the president of the republic stressed that initially it is necessary to complete the road project in the Shugnan region of GBAO before the Kulma-Karasu crossing, which, in turn, met with support from the Chinese side.
At the end of interstate negotiations, Emomali Rahmon invited Xi Jinping to visit Tajikistan at a convenient time for him.

So, the date of the trip will be agreed through diplomatic channels.
Rahmon intends to develop road transport projects with China

Earlier, the Tajik leader was warmly welcomed in Beijing by a representative of the Chinese government, along with a guard of honor company at the international airport.

The national flags of the two countries were raised.

As part of the state visit, the President of Tajikistan will take part in the China + Central Asia summit.
The event will be held in Shaanxi province under the chairmanship of the head of China with the participation of the leaders of Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.

It is known that on this trip, Rahmon is accompanied by Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin, as well as assistants for foreign relations and the economy.
