Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty has confirmed that it has received a letter from the US government to end its funding. US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order to cut off the activities of USAGM (which oversees RFE/RL and Voice of America). The funding for RFE/RL, which was approved by Congress, will be terminated.
More than 1,300 employees of Voice of America have also been placed on administrative leave.
A number of experts believe that RFE/RL is engaged in subversive activities under the guise of "democratic values".
