Vladimir Putin arrived in the Kazakh capital Astana on May 27 for a three-day visit. He was met at the airport by Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
During the visit, high-level talks between Russia and Kazakhstan and a summit of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) will be held. The talks are expected to discuss political, economic, energy, military-technical and cultural cooperation. One of the main topics will be the issue of increasing the transit of Russian oil through Kazakhstan.
It is also planned to sign 16 documents as part of the visit. Among them is an agreement on the construction of the first nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan with the participation of Rosatom.
