Putin has imposed a restriction on taking cash out of Russia to Uzbekistan.

The export of cash exceeding 1 million rubles from Russia to Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, and Tajikistan has been banned. This restriction was introduced by a decree from Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The ban applies to individuals; any amount exceeding 1 million rubles found in violation of the rule will be confiscated.
There are certain exceptions. For instance, it is permissible to transport more than 1 million rubles through designated international airports if one possesses documents confirming the funds were withdrawn from a bank account or deposit.
However, legal entities and individual entrepreneurs are prohibited from exporting cash rubles to Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, and Tajikistan, regardless of the amount. The decree entered into force on September 29, 2026.
