Prospects for bilateral cooperation discussed with UN representatives in Bokhtar

On July 25, in Bokhtar, the Chairman of the Khatlon region, Davlatali Said, and the head of the UN Development Program in Tajikistan, Lenny Montiel, discussed the development of bilateral cooperation, the implementation of joint programs and projects, the Executive Body of State Power of the Khatlon Region reports.

At the meeting, it was noted that the Khatlon region is one of the developing regions of the country, the climatic conditions of the region allow growing crops. Every year, farmers of the region export more than 100 thousand tons of products, including fruits and vegetables. There is an opportunity to increase the export of agricultural products, especially early vegetables, onions, tomatoes, cucumbers and fruits.

The guests were also informed about other opportunities available in the region, where favorable conditions for the development of business and investment have been created, and there are many opportunities for the development of tourism.

UN Resident Coordinator in Tajikistan Parvati Ramaswami noted that the UN is always ready to support the sustainable development of the Tajik economy and stimulate cooperation.

The head of the region noted that a new project for the creation of small enterprises has been developed, and work is underway to implement it. If the project is implemented, thousands of new jobs will be created.
