Private clinics in Uzbekistan are allowed to perform organ transplants

In Uzbekistan, accredited private clinics will be allowed to perform organ transplants. This issue was considered at a meeting on the development of the healthcare system, which was presented to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on May 1.

According to it, private medical institutions will have the right to perform transplantation operations after receiving special accreditation. At the same time, control over the quality of medical services will be strengthened, licensing requirements will be revised, and stricter procedures will be introduced from July 1, 2026.

The private medical sector has expanded significantly in recent years: in 2016, there were 3.2 thousand clinics operating, and by 2026 their number is expected to reach 8.7 thousand. Now, if a violation is detected, instead of suspending the entire clinic, only the problematic area will be restricted.

Also, accredited private clinics will be given the opportunity to provide medical services from the state budget. Starting from 2028, the state insurance system will not cooperate with medical institutions that have not been accredited.

In addition, all state medical institutions will be gradually subject to mandatory licensing by 2030. The President approved these proposals and gave relevant instructions for their implementation.
