Priority tasks in Uzbekistan's energy sector reviewed

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was briefed on measures being taken to implement the key tasks assigned to Uzbekistan's energy sector. The information was provided by the Presidential Press Service.

On July 27, the President chaired a videoconference meeting on priority issues in the fuel and energy sector. During the meeting, the management of the sector, the reliability of electricity and gas supply, as well as efforts to reduce accidents and energy losses, were critically reviewed.

The presentation focused on organizing electricity and gas supply operations at the district and mahalla levels, developing regional energy consumption balances, conducting an inventory of electricity and gas networks and equipment, strengthening preparations for the autumn-winter season, and expanding the use of digital technologies and artificial intelligence.

A special operational headquarters is currently working in Yangiyul District to improve electricity and gas supply. Through direct meetings with residents and businesses, officials are addressing issues such as power outages, insufficient capacity, low gas pressure, technical connection procedures, and outstanding debts.

Based on this experience, the same system will be introduced in 13 additional districts, with plans to expand it nationwide.

Measures are also being taken to make the process of issuing technical connection permits for businesses more transparent, prevent corruption risks, and strengthen oversight.

As part of preparations for the autumn-winter season, outdated networks and equipment are being modernized, energy losses are being reduced, energy efficiency is being improved, and efforts are underway to prevent emergency outages. Authorities also plan to introduce an electronic system for assigning tasks, monitoring implementation, and evaluating employee performance using measurable indicators.

The Ministry of Energy has been tasked with establishing a unified management system for the sector, coordinating the activities of energy enterprises, ensuring the timely implementation of investment projects, and organizing systematic preparations for the upcoming autumn-winter season.

Regional Electric Networks JSC has been instructed to improve the reliability of electricity supply, gradually modernize infrastructure, reduce emergency outages, and enhance service quality.

Meanwhile, Uzenergoinspection will strengthen oversight of the efficient use of energy resources, ensure compliance with technical standards, reduce energy losses, and accelerate energy audits for major consumers.

Special attention was also given to preparing regions with limited natural gas supply for the winter season, expanding private sector participation in the supply of liquefied gas, and using artificial intelligence in sector monitoring.

At the conclusion of the meeting, officials were instructed to organize all work based on accurate planning and calculations and to ensure an uninterrupted supply of electricity and natural gas to the population and all sectors of the economy.
