British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak sent a letter to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

Report informs that the letter says:

"To the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, His Excellency Mr. Ilham Aliyev

Dear President Aliyev,

I convey to you my best wishes in connection with the Baku Energy Week. At a time when there are two pressing challenges, such as combating climate change and strengthening energy security, it is more important than ever that Baku Energy Week brings together international thought leaders from the public and private sectors.

Azerbaijan, being a reliable energy partner, plays an important role in the global energy landscape. Azerbaijan's commitment to increasing natural gas transportation to Europe to 20 billion cubic meters by 2027 contributes to Europe's energy security. Supply diversification is important in terms of ending Russia's use of energy as a geopolitical weapon.

I also applaud your efforts to develop Azerbaijan's vast renewable energy potential and turn it into a green energy exporter. Your plans to increase cooperation with European energy transition partners will be key to achieving these goals. Particularly promising are the establishment of the first Southern Gas Corridor Green Energy Advisory Council and the Black Sea submarine cable project, which aims to transfer renewable electricity from Azerbaijan to Europe.

Over the past two years, the United Kingdom has been supporting Azerbaijan's energy transition through capacity building and awareness programs. These initiatives not only contribute to a more sustainable energy future for Azerbaijan, but also help build resilience to the effects of climate change. As part of the Baku Energy Week, we will present a new publication that will bring together key messages from some of these initiatives. It will look at how British companies can support Azerbaijan in overcoming some of the challenges associated with the energy transition.

I take this opportunity to reiterate the UK's commitment to working with Azerbaijan and international partners in the energy sector to accelerate our collective efforts to move towards clean energy and combat climate change.

I hope that the Baku Energy Week will be a great success."
