The Russian Federal Security Service (FSS) received an order to destroy Yevgeny Prigozhin, the head of the Wagner private military company. Major-General Kirill Budanov, head of the Intelligence Department of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, announced this in an interview with the media.

Answering the journalists' question about how President Vladimir Putin will punish Prigozhin, who organized a military coup, Budanov noted that the task has already been given.

"We know that the FXX was ordered to kill him. Will they be up to the task? Time will tell. In any case, it is clear that such assassinations cannot be carried out quickly. They (FXX employees - ed.) will need some time to develop the right methods and prepare for a large-scale operation," said the head of the Intelligence Department of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

As we previously reported, Yevgeny Prigozhin, one of Putin's special men, launched a military revolt on June 23, demanding the handover of Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov.

The FXX opened a criminal case against Prigozhin for military rebellion. Putin called the action of the head of the "Wagner" company a "stab in the back" and "treason".

In the end, it was reported that peace was reached with the rebels through the mediation of the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko.

An agreement was reached that "Wagner" units would return to their camps, and Prigozhin would go to Belarus.

Western analysts believe that the military coup showed the weakness of Putin's power. Accordingly, some experts say that Putin will not leave Prigozhin alive. For example, David Petraeus, the former head of the US Central Intelligence Agency, spoke about the inevitability of an assassination attempt on Prigogine, although he has saved his life so far.

"He should be very careful in front of open windows in his new base - Belarus," advised General Petraeus.

Well-known Russian journalist Alexei Venediktov is of the same opinion.

"I do not believe that Putin will forget and forgive Prigozhin's betrayal. No matter where Prigozhin is! It is better to drink tea with caution," he wrote.
