Presidents of Central Asian States to Gather for Summit in Seoul

The inaugural South Korea–Central Asia summit is set to take place in Seoul, South Korea, on September 16–17 of this year. The presidents of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan will participate in the event.
Discussions during the summit will focus on fostering cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, energy, critical minerals, and supply chains. Notably, the President of South Korea will hold separate bilateral meetings with the leaders of the five Central Asian nations between September 14 and 16.

For context, the summit was originally scheduled to be held in 2025. However, the event was postponed to 2026 due to political developments in South Korea following former President Yoon Suk-yeol's failed attempt to impose martial law.
