On June 3, 2025, early presidential elections began in South Korea after the impeachment of former President Yun Seok-yeol. 44.4 million of the 52 million population are eligible to vote. More than 15 million voters cast their ballots ahead of schedule. Main candidates: * Lee Jae-myeon (61 years old, “Toburo”): Advocates social reforms and international balance. * Kim Moon-soo (73 years old, “People Power”): Advocates nuclear energy, a conservative domestic policy, and a tough foreign policy. * Lee Joon-seok (40 years old, “New Reform”): Emphasizes decentralization of power and economic reforms. According to polls, Lee Jae-myeon is leading with 49.2%. Kim Moon-soo – 36.8%, Lee Joon-seok – 10.3%.
