President Shavkat Mirziyoyev Participated in an International Forum

On 12 December, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev took part in an international forum in Ashgabat dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality and the declaration of 2025 as the “International Year of Peace and Trust.”

The event was chaired by President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov. The forum was also attended by President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, President of the Republic of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, as well as other heads of state, governments, and leaders of international and regional organizations.

During the chairmanship, it is also planned to declare 2027 the Year of Preventive Diplomacy to support efforts aimed at resolving conflicts for the benefit of future generations. As part of this initiative, a program of events will be adopted, including conferences and forums, as well as exchanges between parliamentary, public, and youth delegations.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev stressed that in today’s global environment—marked by persistent tensions and weakening trust between states—commitment to the principles of peace and mediation is more important than ever. For this reason, Uzbekistan supported Turkmenistan’s initiative to declare 2025 the “International Year of Peace and Trust” and became a co-sponsor of the relevant UN General Assembly resolution.

The head of our state expressed confidence that these initiatives of Turkmenistan, inspired by the noble ideas of peace and trust, will take a worthy place on the agenda during Ashgabat’s chairmanship in the format of Consultative Meetings of regional leaders.

The President of Uzbekistan emphasized the importance of promoting humanitarian cooperation based on mutual respect, trust, and solidarity, proposing to hold a joint international humanitarian forum titled “Dialogue of Cultures” in Tashkent next year and to implement the regional program “Youth for Peace and Trust.”
