President Shavkat Mirziyoyev Meets with New Development Bank President

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with Dilma Rousseff, President of the New Development Bank (NDB), who arrived in Uzbekistan to participate in the events of the Tashkent International Investment Forum.

The discussions focused on further strengthening cooperation with the international financial institution, primarily within the framework of agreements reached at the highest level during previous meetings.

Dilma Rousseff highly praised the reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan and expressed readiness to continue supporting the country’s priority areas of socio-economic development.

The parties welcomed Uzbekistan’s accession as a member state of the New Development Bank. An agreement was reached to develop a medium-term portfolio of joint projects in the fields of energy, water management, transport and engineering infrastructure, as well as support for the private and social sectors with the participation of the Bank’s expert missions. The importance of the NDB’s involvement in the implementation of major regional transport and logistics projects was also emphasized.

Particular attention was given to the Bank’s participation in ongoing programs and projects aimed at the country’s environmental transformation.

The parties also reviewed plans to host major New Development Bank events in Uzbekistan in the future.
