Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Turkestan on a working visit. Today, the head of state will participate in the informal summit of the Organization of Turkic States. As part of the visit, Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Kassym-Jomart Tokayev got acquainted with the new mosque built by Uzbekistan in Turkestan. The complex covers an area of more than 7 hectares, and more than 5 thousand people can pray there. The magnificent ensemble consists of four 70-meter minarets, a three-story main building, a main hall and traditional verandas. The building, built on the basis of Islamic and Eastern architectural traditions, combines national patterns, domes and modern construction technologies. Examples of Islamic calligraphy and painting are widely used in interior decoration. Work is underway to improve the surrounding area, create green spaces, walkways, recreation areas and fountains. This complex was noted as a symbol of friendship and strategic cooperation between the two countries. Verses from the Quran were recited and prayers were offered for peace and prosperity.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadir Japarov also met. The conversation discussed issues of strengthening friendship, good neighborliness and strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. It was noted that trade and economic cooperation is expanding, joint projects are developing in the fields of industry, agriculture and water management. Major regional projects in the energy and transport sectors, including the acceleration of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project, were also considered.
The next meeting was held with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, where issues of further strengthening mutual strategic partnership were discussed. The parties noted that the agreements reached during previous high-level visits are being consistently implemented, trade turnover and the volume of joint projects are increasing. They also exchanged views on topical regional and international issues.
