President Orders Sergeli Odor Problem to Be Solved by September 1

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has ordered that the long‑standing foul odor problem affecting residents of Sergeli and Yangihayot districts be resolved by September 1 of this year. To achieve this, modern filtration equipment will be installed at the wastewater intake facility. Starting next year, in cooperation with UAE partners, construction of a new modern water treatment plant will begin in the Quyi Chirchiq district, which will significantly reduce the load on the existing facility in Sergeli. Additionally, in Sergeli, traffic safety will be improved along 23 kilometers of roads, with 455 “smart” traffic lights, 150 bus stops, and a 10,000‑space parking lot to be built. Next year, a 5.5‑kilometer BRT corridor will be constructed on Yangi Sergeli Street.
